Labs Report

Please Don't Call It 'Q3'

Two dream labs down, with a whole lotta dreams in the air.
Next up: Gotta get those dreams down to earth.

Our findings so far:

  • From lawnmower shares to marching bands, our neighbors have a full range of dreams. big and beautiful to cool and tiny.

  • Lots of dreams seem custom-made for Neighbor Lab: favor bucket? The invite kit? Pop-up water cooler? Yes, please.

  • Maybe all our different programs – walks and museums and quilts? maybe not so different – maybe one big thing.

  • Critical finding 1: Obvious/mysterious, open/closed, familiar/new. Gotta dial in just the right dose of mystery.

  • Critical finding 2: It all comes down to low-stakes first steps. We need on-ramps with zero friction. Better invitations.

Three core diagnoses:

• Small is big.
• Proximity is an accelerant.
• Make the blueprints, then give them away free.
